Guide to labeling filenames for seamless revision management

Guide to labeling filenames for seamless revision management

EstimateOne recognises commonly used file naming conventions to support Builders with managing revisions throughout their Tender.

Upon document upload, the drawing number and revision number are extracted from the file name to save you time and effort in managing your documents.

Here are examples of the recognised naming formats that will enable the document revision to be automatically extracted from the file name:

  • Include the revision in brackets within the filename.

Example: "091231(1).pdf" would be considered revision "1".

  • Include the revision in square brackets within the filename
Example: "Landscp pt1 [1].pdf" would be considered to be revision "1".

  • Include the revision after the word "Rev" in the filename.
Example: "Drawing1_RevC.pdf" would be considered to be revision "C".

  • Include the revision after the word "Issue" in the filename.
Example: "A000 - Issue A.pdf" would be considered to be revision "A"

·

The drawing number will only be extracted from the file name when it starts any of the following; 'H', 'E', 'A', 'F', 'S', 'L', 'M', 'C', 'WD' or 'LA' and followed by numeric characters (A-Z & 0 - 9).

The drawing number must be at the start of the filename in order for it to be picked up by the system. Examples of how the drawing number is extracted from the filename are listed below;

·         "A001 - Issue A.pdf" would have the drawing number "A001"

·         "S091244(1).PDF" would have the drawing number "S091244".
