I'm a Subcontractor or Supplier

Welcome to the Subcontractor and Supplier Feedback Forum. We encourage all EstimateOne members to post suggestions and ideas for improvement. Posting new ideas and voting on existing ideas will help us understand what improvements you want to see.

  1. Highlight trades that has been awarded to a subcontractor

When clicking on a project that has been awarded to a builder, there should be an indication that shows which trades has been let/ or given a contract to.

We understand the value in informing you of which trades have been let by the builder, and is something we wish we could offer you.

As a platform made primarily for tendering, it would be difficult to get estimators to notify users when trades are let. The estimators workload is focused on tendering projects, not deliverying them.

We will be expanding our “delivery” module for builders in the future and will review this as we grow. Please be patient, and we’ll do what we can.

  2. Export the Tenders and Awarded Projects List

Allow to export a (filtered) Tenders list and Award Projects List to excel (.csv or .xlsx).
    Filters may include:
    - Builders name
    - Awarded date ranges
    - Project Start date ranges
    - Project Values
    - Tenders I've quoted
    - Location

First up, thanks for the suggestion and the support from the community. We understand that having this data in Excel could be helpful. The challenge for our business is that this data is extremely valuable and we’ve had instances where others have got access to this data, so we need to be really careful in protecting it.

With that said, we’d like to understand more about why you want this in Excel? Perhaps if we helped by integrating this data securely with your CRM or other tool it would help?

    Cheers,
    Gilad

  3. Additional Awarded Work Information

I would like more information on the 'real status' of awarded projects.

Information I would like to know includes whether the project is; Under Negotiation, Re-pricing Post Tender, Awarded, Postponed & Under Construction.

Builders should be able to apply these to reflect the true stage their project is at.

We are currently reviewing the best use cases for builders to mark projects at various stages of its lifecycle. This suggestion will form part of that review. Thanks for the feedback!

  4. Make available trades more specific.

Please allow me to select shower screens, mirrors and splashbacks as my preferred trades as 'Glaziers' is too broad.

Please allow me to select Wardrobes as my trade because the trade 'Joinery' is too broad.

We understand and appreciate that your specific trade isn’t available to select and that this may cause some frustration. At this stage we do not plan to add further trades as the list would become long and difficult to navigate.
The best way to find projects relevant to you is to use our Specification Search to look for “shower screens” or “splashback” or any particular brand name, which will search all documents uploaded to EstimateOne for you.
We hope that helps, and happy searching.

  5. Guarantee payments

Every developer / owner/financier should have to put monies for project build into a fund and each sub-contracts claims of developer/financier rather than rely on the builder to pay your pc claim. Builder does the same so we do not have a Tagara / Warburton scenario where they fail to pay sub-contracts despite being paid by the developer owner/ finacer

Thanks for your suggestion and for putting your support behind this idea, we appreciate you taking the time to do this. Unfortunately no aspect of our business currently deals with owners or financiers, and as such it will be very difficult for us to provide that information to you. Cheers, Gilad

  6. Task Date Option -

So you can set a date if you wish to follow up this particular project on a particular date.

    Thanks for your suggestion Simone,
This is not something we are going to go ahead with for now, but EstimateOne allows you to sync your quotes due/tender closing with a calendar of your choice that uses the iCal format. We recommend managing due dates within your calendar, in a way that works for you.

  7. Add Trades for Building Services Consultants

Make more trades available on the signup form such as; Asbestos Surveyors, OHS Consultants, Dilapidation Assessors etc.

    Hi Philip,
We understand and appreciate that your specific trade isn’t available to select and that this may cause some frustration. At this stage we do not plan to add further trades as the list would become long and difficult to navigate.
To find projects relevant to you, we suggest you use Specification Search to look for “asbestos" or “dilapidation”, which will search all documents uploaded to EstimateOne for you.
We hope that helps, and happy searching.

  8. Add a setting that notifies Builders that I only price awarded projects

Ideally, I would like it to be able to be set-up so that builders know to only send us projects when they have been awarded, and not at tender stage. This would mean that we only deal with live awarded projects. Trust that makes sense.

    Hi Caleb,
We understand that your interest is primarily in pricing awarded projects, however we find that head contractors tend to be more loyal to subbies and suppliers who price for them at tender stage – this may be why they send you RFQs at tender stage.
The industry is built on a network of trust, so at EstimateOne, we want to foster that from tender stage through to construction. Happy tendering!

  9. Trades Section when Tendering for Piling

There are so many variations in the piling, so it would be more beneficial for subcontractors if it was broken down e.g. ***** piling, bored piers, timber piling, sheet piling, CFA piling in the Trades section. We are a small business and its very time consuming to go through the documents and then realise your unable to quote.

  10. Add a won or lost option for our tenders to the builders so we may see at a glance

After we have tendered for a project it would be nice to see if we had won the tender

At this stage we do not intend on adding new tender statuses for subcontractors and suppliers.

How you manage your tenders within EstimateOne will form part of a larger review moving forward, and this feedback will be considered as part of it. Keep your eyes peeled!

  11. Have a date when project awarded

Have date the company has been awarded this project, have found recently that some projects they mark as awarded and the project has already been completed, this would save time and embarrassment when contacting the company.

We understand the frustration with not having the correct awarded project date, particularly when you’re reaching out to the builder.

We have marked this as Not Progressing, but we are working on educating builders as to the benefits of marking projects as Awarded as soon as possible to help subbies and suppliers better identify opportunities.

  12. DELETE PAST PROJECTS

Delete all listed projects from the system that are 6months older than the awarded date.

Thanks for your suggestion and putting your support behind this idea, we appreciate you taking the time to put it forward. Our challenge is to keep EstimateOne simple and easy to use and we feel that removing this information altogether is not the most suitable way to achieve this. We do plan to improve the filtering of search results in order to make it easier to find projects that are relevant to you. Thanks again for taking the time to put it forward. Cheers, Gilad

  13. Builder's must nominate all trades being priced as Provisional Sums

We often find our trade is marked as required, but no package is available for download. We usually have to ring the estimators only to find our trade is being quoted as a provisional sum. We find this is a waste of the Builders and our time, and could be avoided if all Provisional Sums were displayed to us before we download any packages.

We understand the frustration this causes. Unfortunately this falls into a circumstance where more often than not the builder isn’t aware an item is a provisional sum until later on in the tender process, when they conduct a thorough review of the tender.

To speed up the process, we would suggest using the doc previewer to check the schedules and specifications yourself. It’s not ideal, but the best we can do right now.

  14. Include Lighting Project

You should also include in the filter Lighting projects, as it is a multi-million dollar industry, and currently everything is under electrical.

We suggest you use “specification search” to look for “lighting”, or your particular brand or product, and EstimateOne will search all uploaded documents for you. Hope that helps, and happy searching.

  15. Add a trade "stonemason"

If a project is listed under brickwork or blockwork I'm not interested.

We understand that you wish to search projects based on the builders packages. Whilst it is great in theory, we feel it wouldn’t work in practice.

Subbies and suppliers are “matched” to a trade list which the builders also have. Builders can create new packages but not map them to a trade, which is what you’re referring to. This level of flexibility for builders is the best way for them to connect with subbies.

We’re going to be reviewing the way subbies and suppliers search for projects, and this feedback will form part of that review.

We understand the importance of having more specific trades on the tender form, but adding every trade would create a very long list that would become cumbersome for everyone involved.

To narrow down on particular items we suggest using the “search within documents” feature that will let you search all documents uploaded to EstimateOne based on keywords. That includes “mobile patrols”, “CCTV”, or similar.

  18. Please add Temporary Fencing as a trade

Most job sites will require Temporary Fencing for site security whilst demolition and construction takes place. Can we have a trade added for this?

    Hi Ken,
We understand and appreciate that your specific trade isn’t available to select and that this may cause some frustration. At this stage we do not plan to add further trades as the list would become long and difficult to navigate. Temp fencing is not often provided in any of the drawings and is up to the builders discretion on how to price and provide it. Our suggestion is to review the “demolition” trade package for site measurements and price to the builder accordingly.
We hope that helps, and happy searching.

We suggest you use “Specification Search” to look for a specific term of product such as “glass brick” or “glass block”, which will search all documents uploaded to EstimateOne for you.

  20. Printing Notes

It would be great to be able to print out the notes recorded for all projects that have been quoted or shown interest in.
